CSV opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets. The blank file is deliberately platform-neutral; the worked example shows how design, wiring, software and commissioning references can stay on one row.
An I/O list is a controlled interface document, not merely a list of addresses. Each signal should be traceable from the field device and drawing through the panel channel to the software tag and the commissioning record.
Tag, service description, location and drawing reference establish which real device the row represents.
Signal type, range, cabinet, rack, slot, channel, cable and address define how the signal is built and mapped.
Normal state, fail state, safety classification and notes turn the row into a usable FAT, loop-check and SAT reference.
A “Safety DI/DO” label does not assign a SIL, performance level or safety category. Those values must come from the approved hazard assessment, safety requirements specification and validation plan. The template gives the project a place to record that controlled reference; it does not calculate it.
